Pictographic dreams

Submitter's name: Saso
Title: Pictographic dreams
Gear used: OM-3, Zuiko SC 35mm lens
Diaphragm: f5.6
Shutter speed: 1/125
Film used: Agfapan APX400
Technical information: 35mm was my most used lens on the recent trip, for reasons well known to most of you, I am sure. Film was new to me; developed at a London high street lab. Negative scanned on an Epson 3200, slightly fixed in Photoshop (levels).
Subject information: A bridge in Kensington/Hyde Park, near the Serpentine Gallery. Nothing special in and of itself, except the photo as it turned out reminded me of the early pictographic movement. Reflections of the time gone by?

Comment left by: Alasdair Mackintosh (tope@toomanybooks.org) Normally I prefer sharp and contrasty prints, but the soft, grainy effect works extremely well here.

Comment left by: Gary Edwards (no e-mail specified) Great mood shot.

Comment left by: Brian Swale (bj@caverock.net.nz) The way the shadow of the far end of the bridge shows so clearly on the weeping willow branches, then lines up with the shadow on the water ( as logically it must) adds to making the composition much more effective. Brian

Comment left by: Chuck Norcutt (chucknorcutt@comcast.net) Very nice. This is one of those places where B&W grain makes the picture.

Comment left by: Walt Wayman (no e-mail specified) In a word -- well, two words: Classic! Excellent!

Comment left by: The Photographer (no e-mail specified) Thanks everyone. I have to say this photo is my favorite out of all the numerous rolls of film burned in that one month abroad.

Comment left by: Duncan Paterson (no e-mail specified) Very tranquil scene, enhanced by the course grain of the film. The position of the shadow finishes it off nicely.

Comment left by: Carlos Martinez (no e-mail specified) Ditto to all the rest
Just beautiful
